While the name has evolved, the commitment to providing top-tier cattle has remained unchanged. Brandon’s vision for the future is expanding with the growing needs of the livestock community.

Brandon’s journey into the world of cattle started long before the business came to life. Growing up in Rotan, Texas, Brandon’s largest influence in the cattle industry was his grandfather. Brandon spent many hours in the feed truck learning from his grandfather. Brandon was involved in livestock shows from an early age, traveling across the state with his dad, and preparing animals for competitions. These formative experiences left him with a lifelong appreciation for the values that showing livestock can instill in young people—responsibility, work ethic, perseverance, and teamwork. He cherishes the memories of bonding with his dad over early mornings at the barn and long hours spent getting ready for shows. It’s these same experiences that now drive him to provide youth with the same opportunities for growth and success through Double Rafter Cattle.

Brandon’s commitment to excellence extends far beyond the business side of Double Rafter Cattle—it’s evident in the care he provides for each of his animals. Every calf at Double Rafter is treated like family, with the utmost attention to detail given to their well-being. Brandon meticulously plans and monitors feeding regimens to ensure that each animal receives the proper nutrition they need to grow healthy and strong. He works closely with veterinarians to provide top-notch care, staying ahead of any potential health concerns and addressing them promptly. Additionally, Brandon’s focus on quality genetics is central to his breeding program, ensuring that every calf has the potential to excel. By carefully selecting and pairing top-performing sires and dams, he continually improves the herd’s genetic quality, optimizing both show steer performance and the commercial cattle line. In addition to heading his cattle business operations, Brandon serves as an Ag Extension Agent for his local county where he helps support farmers, ranchers, and the agriculture community through education, resources, and outreach. His work in the extension service fuels his passion for helping others succeed in agriculture, ensuring that future generations of farmers and ranchers continue to thrive.

Brandon is deeply supported by his wife, Lyndsey, who plays an integral role in the business. Lyndsey brings her expertise in marketing to the table, helping to elevate the Double Rafter Cattle brand and connect with potential buyers through managing social media, website operations, media, and advertising. Outside of the business, she works as a software specialist and part-time law enforcement officer, showcasing her diverse skill set and dedication to serving others. Together, Brandon and Lyndsey are building a legacy that is grounded in the values of family, hard work, and dedication to an excellent buyer experience. 

The Cave family’s journey is one of shared purpose. Solace, their son, is growing up surrounded by family business, learning firsthand about the cattle industry and the importance of responsibility.
